Seekers of the Sun

Given their self-assigned clan name, it should come as no surprise that the Seekers of the Sun include a large number of Azeyma, the Warden devotees among their numbers. Despite having a small total population, the twenty-six Seeker tribes are dispersed over the whole realm, with isolated communities popping up everywhere from the arid Sagolii Desert in southern Thanalan to the craggy peaks of Gyr Abania. Yet more Seekers have made Limsa Lominsa their home, enticed by the freedom of the pirate lifestyle. Many Seekers, especially younger ones, decide to embark on adventurous journeys, perhaps responding to the same call of the wild their forefathers once heard.[1]

Distribution La Noscea (Limsa Lominsa), Southern Thanalan (Sagolii Desert), Gyr Abania, elsewhere
Physical Attributes Seekers, who are about a head shorter and smaller in stature than the normal Hyur, are gifted with a wiry strength, exceptional agility, and the endurance to run for hours in the hot sun—a combination of qualities that makes them particularly well-suited to hunting in dry regions. Many Seekers are skilled in diving and climbing, making them good sailors as well. With their small, vertically aligned pupils and faintly colored irises, their eyes are among their most distinctive physical characteristics.
Nomenclature The Eorzean alphabet, which contains the same amount of letters by coincidence or, as the Seekers believe, by divine will, is chosen by each of the twenty-six Seeker tribes to serve as their tribal name. The "R" stands for the tribe in the female given name R'ashaht Rhiki, while "Ashaht" is her given name and "Rhiki" is a patronymic derived from the breeding male. Instead of adding patronymics to their names, male Seekers' names are prefixed with a title that indicates their status within the tribe: "nunh" for breeding males, or "tia" for everyone else.
Culture Each tribe in the Seekers of the Sun is led by a powerful breeding male (nunh), whose responsibility is to establish a harem and bring his people honor and prosperity. In order to become a nunh, young males ("tia") must either challenge and defeat an existing nunh in single combat, otherwise he must leave the village in search of a harem of his own. Multiple nunh may coexist in the same village in exceptionally large tribes, however such occurrences are uncommon.
